adidas: a kick-ass brand - from humble beginnings

Want a quick rags-to-riches story? Adolf Dassler (as Adi) founded adidas after returning from World War I, and he made the first shoes in his mother's laundry room in Germany! The name adidas was coined from his nickname, and his brother Rudolf joined him in 1924, making the start of adidas a real family story. The iconic three-stripe logo came later in the history of the brand after the 1952 Summer Olympics - it was traded from Finnish brand Karhu Sports. And the price? Two bottles of whiskey and 1,600 euros! You've probably noticed that today, adidas and its subsidiary companies Reebok, Matix and Runtastic are among the most successful footwear, sportswear and casual-wear brands in the world - be part of this iconic fashion phenomenon.

On offer from the 'daddy' of shoe brands

The company prides itself on both classic looks and new ideas in footwear and sports clothing. In 2005, adidas introduced adidas 1, the first ever shoe to be produced using a microprocessor that became known as the world's first intelligent shoe. In 2006, the company signed a contract to be the official supplier of sports shoes and clothing for the FIFA World Cup, proving their commitment to fitness and sports. Football lovers will know this brand for its quality sports shoes and referee gear, but it also provides a wide variety of stylish products for all athletes as well as casual wear. Each shoe is soft, supple and easy to move in, and lovers of speed and agility will find the cushy inner and tough uppers a definite win. Their solid athletic performance combined with Euro panache makes adidas the perfect choice for style and speed.

    Running Shoes and More

Needless to say, running shoes are what the brand is famous for. Several adidas models have taken the brand's loyal fans by storm including the Energy Boost and Spring Blade trainers. The shoes are popular worldwide, particularly in Europe, and the EQT and NMD lines are famous amongst European running clubs. But there is much more to the adidas brand, which also offers casual slide sandals, mobile accessories, eye-catching sunglasses, sleek watches and baseball caps. It also offers a range of high-quality toiletries like after-shaves, deodorants, perfumes and lotions. The company is motivated by innovation and encouraging solid athletic performance. Always up-to-the-minute, the brand is the go-to place for modern streetwear as well as performance-driven athletic wear. Not to mention, it's super forward-thinking; in 2016, Adidas produced a shoe made using plastic obtained from the oceans: the Futurecraft Biofabric (yet to be released).

    Top-Selling Shoes

Top-selling adidas shoes from Foot Locker include the Ultra Boost Uncaged, Nizza and the Zeezy Boost. The ever-popular NMD R1 is also a best seller. The Continental 80 is a casual shoe with a vintage feel based on classic tennis shoes. By modernizing vintage designs, adidas keeps things interesting. The brand designs with vibe and movement in mind, and you can't beat them for shoes that say "I know what I want and how I'm going to get there."

The Adilette is a great slide sandal option for young and old and very popular for holidays and beach days. Colours in the range include basics like black, grey and white as well as innovative pastels, golds, bold shades like oranges, pinks and reds. Ever-present on each and every design is the 3-stripe logo design which identifies it as this trend-setting brand.
